The board of county commission ers met at the court house yester day in regular session for April with all members present, including Mr. R. L. Stowe, of Belmont, the newly appointed commissioner from South Point township succeeding the late Mr. John F. leeper. The board or ganized by electing Dr. O. . Falls, of Kings Mountain, chairman, and Mr. H. K. Davenport, of Mount Hol ly, vice chairman, and proceeded to the transaction of regular business.' James Gazaway and Maggie Beam were declared paupers and allowed to go to the county home. Superintendent C. C. Craig was instructed to investigate the case of Miss Julia t'ombest, now in the Mecklenburg county home, and if found a proper charge on this coun ty to bring her to the Gaston coun ty home. 4 ' K. B. Stone was allowed the priv ilege of peddling without paying li cense, on account of being a Con federate veteran. County Superintendent of Roads T. 1.. Ware was instructed to inspect the proposed sand-clay road from Bessemer 'City to Lin wood College and make report on the same at the next meetine of the board. Messrs. T. L. Ware, R. K. Haven port and J. F. McArver were ap pointed as a committee to inspect the proposed sand-clay road leading into the town of Kings Mountain and make report on the same to trie next meeting of the board. It was ordered that the unused portion of the old Dallas and Cher ryville road running through the Coble place be discontinued as a public road. Superintendent Ware was in structed to make a survey of the proposed public road leading from Bessemer City to the Dallas and Cherryville road, as petitioned for by Mr. W. T. Adams and others. The farm de monstrator appointed by the depart ment for this work, Mr. Folk, was present, and will enter upon the work at once. Superintendent Ware was direct ed to inspect the proposed sand-clay road connecting Stanley and Hoyle's bridge as petitioned for by A. L. Boyd and others and make report. Messrs. Ware, McArver and Lew is were appointed a committee wltn power to act for the purpose of In specting the Ixjng Creek bridge and devising some means of removing It temporarily until the dredge in completed. G. Hopper, was dead in an up-town otlico in the Morris Building whitnr he had been taken to have a broken arm set. I'he little fellow was tripping along South Vlarietta street in front of the First 1'resliyterlan church wh.n he stubbed his toe against a rock or ;ome other obstacle and was 'hiovvn to the sidewalk, breaking; bis left arm at the elbow. His moth er was notified of tho accident and he vv.ih taken at once to a nearby of lice where Dr. 11. F. Glenn with the assistame of Dr. 'I. :'. yulckel, was preparing to dress the injured limb. S painful was the hurt, which was a serious fracture of the bone, that It was found absolutely necessary to administer an anesthetic In order to set the broken arm. Dr. Quickel ad ministered the anesthetic and Dr. Glenn was preparing to make a thorough examination when the boy tuddenly died. The body was re moved to the Ford I nderfaklng Company's rooms und prepared for burial, after which it was removed lo the home on Dallas Htreet. The news of Hie sudden and shocking death of one so young elicited many expressions of sympa thy from those who knew the fami ly and from many who did not know the little fellow. He was popular with his little schoolmates to whom the announcement of his death brought much sorrow. Surviving the unfortunate boy are his mother and two sisters. His lather, the late G. ('.
